Fight Infidelity, Post a Known Cheater Now

If you think that you can cheat and get away with it, think again. I saw the ad for this on a billboard and I think that it doesn’t get more obvious; a website where you can make a profile for a cheater you know to help out other people… and definitely screw over the cheater for good.

The billboard that I saw

Here are some statistics provided by CheaterVille.com

1 out of 3 adults who cheated did so with a coworker

22% of married men had at least one affair during their marriage

1 out of 3 adults in the US fantasizes about cheating

40% of men have been unfaithful at least once in their life

74% of divorces are caused by extramarital affairs

Sad but true, and my friend in the car kept on saying “No WAY!” “This is so WRONG” well I guess that cheating is wrong.. those bastards deserve to be punished and this is the right social media tool to do so. I’m only concerned about fake profiles though, made just to hurt certain people who are not true cheaters. What do you think?

Trying Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips by Sally Hansen

This post is about art. Particularly nail art. Who says that you need to have a steady hand to paint your nails or the patience to wait for them to dry off? With Sally Hansen’s Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips you can now glue on your nail polish using sticker-like or a better example would be wallpaper-like nail-shaped stickers with all sorts of different designs.

I bought mine at a local Walmart and couldn’t wait to get home to try them on. The instructions are pretty simple making it very easy to apply the nail accessory which is made of real nail polish and then the excess is filed off so that it takes the exact shape of the nail. Each strip has two ends so that you may use the end that has the shape of your cuticle.

I finished off with a sheer top coat and now I test the durability of this product which is said to last up to two weeks. If this is true and no damage is done to my nails, this means that this creation beats nail gels by rounds.

Any nail salon treatment in Las Vegas will cost at least ten dollars for a change of color. I bought these babies for approximately nine dollars. It took me fifteen minutes to cover up all my nails (picture below) and I don’t think that they look half bad. In fact, I can’t wait to try out the rest of the designs. That leopard print was beckoning to me but I chose the lacy ones… pretty sexy I would say :)

I proudly take a picture after completing the easiest manicure I ever gave to myself

Green Plums aka Janerek

Green Plums aka Janerek

It’s spring in Lebanon and other Mediterranean countries and around this time of the year it is only normal to find green plums selling in all vegetable markets.
This stage of the fruit’s life is marked by the obvious green color and sour taste of the fruit which is usually dipped in a little bit of salt before consumption.
This spring however, being in Las Vegas has made it very hard for me to find these babies but thanks to the Mediterranean market my craving was satisfied.

Barnabas Collins Is Back From The Dead

Today at 12:01 a.m. “Dark Shadows” was released and I was there with a friend and a box of sour candy waiting in line to get into the theater.

I have not watched the soap opera that this film is based on and I also have no recollection of the story beyond this film. I am just a huge Johnny Depp fan and I can say that I was impressed by the acting and direction.

A wicked witch, Angelique Bouchard, feeling rejected by Barnabas Collins dooms him to an ugly fate of being a vampire and buries him alive after killing his parents and cursing all his lovers to jump off a cliff to their doom. He emerges 200 years later, thirstier than ever before and when Angelique discovers this she tries to win him back as the former resides in what used to be his own mansion and is now occupied by his troubled descendants.

It is a perfect combination of comedy and horror that triggers your excitement and leaves you wanting more!

Culture vs Fashion: Where Is the Fine Line?

We all remember a few years back how the Palestinian kufiya was adopted by fashion designers and transformed into all sorts of  garments in unconventional colors which angered many if not most members of this culture who see in this head scarf worn by their elders and bequeathed unto them an embodiment of their pride in working and sweating in the fields in order to earning a living. Of course an opposing artistic view will argue that modern fashion is inspired by items such as the kufiya which is quite inapplicable in this case since this particular item is a symbol of Palestinian nationalism and the symbolism in this case is uncanny making the reproduction of such a head scarf for fashion purposes disrespectful to the peoples of Palestine. In addition, those wearing it and unaware of what it stands for are also being disrespectful.

Today a similar phenomenon occurs in the United States of America  and around the world where the “Native American” fashion trend full of feathers, leather, and patterns of bright colors is in fact angering the real Native Americans. I quote, “Our land, our moccasins, our headdresses, and our religions weren’t enough? You gotta go and take Pendleton designs, too?”

It seems like once again another culture is being exploited and this mega production of their desert-inspired geometric designs is an industry in itself. The arising question, and a specific part of the problem is, “Who gets to profit”. While it might go without saying that the Native Americans should be the ones profiting from this trend who the profit is going to remains controversial since the mass production of these items around the world will profit others and might also be a mutation of the original design just like the time when a pink kufiya was produced!

I personally own a few Native American-inspired items in my wardrobe but I meant no harm in buying them. In fact, I believe that the designs are beautiful and must be shared with the rest of the world without compromising their originality or mutating the original design.

I “Marvel” at “The Avengers”

All of us out there who enjoyed watching all these individual superhero movies over the past few years were waiting for this one. I finally got to see it and now I fully understand why it made $200.3 million this weekend in North America alone.
Non spoiler footage: great plot, very good script, and a full two and a half intriguing movie hours! Simply put, go see it NOW!

Ooh Aah I’m Turning 24

For several years my birthday didn’t seem to be an important event in my life. Then, one day, I decided to start celebrating my fabulousness and this year’s destination was The Grand Canyon.

We set out on a four-hour drive until we got to “The Steakhouse” for a nice lunch. It was a warm welcoming family-type of service and everything tasted great!

Now I don’t normally like to be adventurous with my food, but we did order their deep-fried rattlesnake appetizer. I shockingly believe that it is quite tasty even though it was hard to eat through the numerous bones constituting the snake’s backbone and rib cage.

it takes a lot of time to eat the meat off the bone on this thing

Later on, we set out on a smaller path at the Grand Canyon just to test the waters. Everyone was on their way back from their hikes and we looked pretty fresh not knowing what awaits the next day. We captured the sunlight and stayed there till nightfall and a significant drop in temperature.

We retired early on day one. However, we resumed our hiking trip as early as 6:00 a.m. on day 2. We took the South Kaibab Trail knowing that we can’t finish it and hike all the way down to the Colorado River in one day. It was recommended that we do not hike past the Skeleton Point, and so we did. Below are some images of this wonderful day.

The Winding Trail Continues: Mules in the Valley

The birthday celebration continues… today I am pretty sore because of this hike. I saw mule shit all over the trails, slipped on my way down, and crawled on my way up. I will do it again someday because it was totally worth it. It surely tops all hiking sites on Earth!
